Activity: Health Professions Education

Ethically-Important MomentsMoving Forward

This simulation activity (developed in collaboration with Dr Shaza Fadel) can be used to help you think critically about your own authorship decision making practices, as well as an education tool to use with your learners when teaching about ethical authorship. It is an interactive way to introduce the ICMJE guidelines for authorship and provides a springboard for dialogue about the practical issues that may arise in practice including considerations of power, culture and relationships.

The purpose of this activity is not to arrive at a single ‘correct’ answer, but rather to highlight the complexities of authorship ethics and decision-making.
